Bio: Linda played the flute as a child until about the age of 13. She just recently picked it back up as an adult when her daughter started playing. She loves being Sarah’s mom and finding activities they can enjoy together. Linda has also recently taken up running and plans to complete her first half marathon in November 2011.

Bio: Catherine was born in Boston, MA and at the age of 3 she moved to Atlanta, GA. This year, Catherine moved to Oklahoma. She has been playing the flute since she was 9. Catherine has a cat, a dog, and a lizard! She has 2 brothers, one older and one younger. She also plays the piano and sings. Catherine likes animals, music, and drama. In her free time, she enjoys to read, ride horses, and dance.

Bio: Tieracy is going to be a freshman in high school, which she is really excited about. She loves to play softball and hopes to play for her high school in the spring. Tieracy is looking forward to being in the high school marching band and she loves to play pieces of music that most people know. Bio: Melissa was born in Norman, OK. She has two brothers, Chance & Garrett. Melissa loves anything that has to do with music. She also loves to read, especially the Harry Potter Series. In addition to playing the flute, she also plays the french horn and the keyboard. When she gets older, she hopes to attend an arts school and one day to become a music director.

Bio: Audrey was Born in Midland, Texas on June 18th. She has lived in many places around the world, including Warri, Nigeria in November 1998; Port Harcourt, Nigeria December 1999; Miri, Malaysia in July 2002, The Netherlands in August 2007; and finally Oklahoma in 2010. Audrey has many talents including playing the piano for 7 years and the flute for 4 years.

Bio:Taylor is currently a freshman. She has been playing the flute for two years and really enjoys it. Music is very important in her life because it’s a form of expression she can connect with. Taylor is from Kansas City, MO but grew up in Oklahoma. She enjoys American History, English, Art, and Band. She likes playing games on the computer, Wii, and DS. She has a dog named Daisy and a cat names Oreo. Outside of school, Taylor works as a volunteer for the Public Library.

Bio: Morgan started playing flute in 7th grade with very little experience. She became and maintained first chair in her beginning band class, so her teacher recommended Morgan take lessons to get ahead. Morgan excelled further in band. In her second semester of Band, Morgan had the opportunity to help teach a new student that later became second chair. She plans to continue in band, and hopes to become a band teacher. |

Sarah has a dog, Angel, that her family rescued. She enjoys reading and playing games on her iTouch. She and her mom love taking trips to Disney World together.

Bio: Dhruv was born on March 5, 1997 in New Delhi, India. He moved to Oklahoma with his parents in September 2000. He is now 14 and enjoys playing the flute, playing soccer, chess and building robots. His family is very dear to him and he also takes active part in his community. He has not decided on his profession yet, but is considering careers in medicine, engineering, and Law. He has performed very well in academics and was selected for the pre-engineering courses at his high school.

Bio: This fall, Julia will be a freshman at OU majoring in Secondary Math Education. She has been playing the flute for nine years, and has loved every minute of it. In high school, Julia was a section leader for two years, and an assistant drum major for one. Playing music is very fun for her because it is relaxing. Outside of music, Julia enjoys reading, playing video games, and hanging out with friends and family.

Bio: Yena is from Seoul, South Korea. She is a foreign exchange student. Her favorite color is black and is a senior at her school. This is Yena’s second year of high school in the United States. She had looked forward to come the United States her whole life. She plans to go college in Oklahoma and wants to major in music.
She was born in Ansong, South Korea. She has an older brother who is 22 years old and is a junior in college in Korea. Her mother and father run their family recycling business. When Yena was born, her mother taught music lessons. Yena’s mother is very talented and so began Yena’s love for music. When Yena was 7 yrs old, her mother started teaching her the piano. She played piano until she was 12 yrs old. At that time, Yena learned to play the flute and has been playing flute ever since. Yena played in numerous competitions. She came in second place in Sousown. Classical music is her favorite!

Bio: Rosemary is a senior Drum Major with a passion for music. She has played flute for over seven years. She recently decided to try tenor saxophone and made the high school’s Jazz Band. Rosemary has grown up with many interests, including a love of horses, an appreciation for Latin and the Classics, a desire to end hunger and human trafficking, and a fondness of food, knitting, animals, aviation, reading, and writing.

Bio: Briana was born in Oklahoma and lived here all of her life. She grew up playing softball and soccer and then later on added flute to the agenda. Throughout middle school Briana dedicated herself to all three hobbies while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Today her main focus is playing the flute and school. She will be attending the University of Oklahoma, auditioning for the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band, and majoring in either Native American Studies or Business.

Bio: Corynn is a junior. She was born in Norman and has lived here all of her life. She started playing flute in sixth grade and has loved every minute of it. Her activities include playing flute, taking modern dance, and being involved in the school musicals. Her hobbies include seeing musicals, watching movies, reading, hanging out with her friends and family, playing with her Scottie dog Murphy and of course, playing flute. After she graduates, she plans on attending Oklahoma City Community College and The University Of Oklahoma to major in Nursing, while being involved with The Pride Of Oklahoma. She wants to thank her friends and family for supporting her in everything she does.

Bio: Melanie will be attending 6th grade this upcoming fall, and is really excited about attending middle school. When she grows up, she either wants to be a lawyer or a 3rd grade school teacher. Besides wanting to learn the flute, Melanie also takes piano lessons, and really enjoys them too, and is active in Girl Scouts. Some of Melanie’s hobbies include reading, especially Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Percy Jackson and cooking her specialty chocolate cake with lots of icing. Her favorite vacation spot is Hawaii, but she hopes to one day visit France and learn how to speak French because her last name is French. Melanie is good with dogs, specifically her flute teacher’s dog, Rimsky! Lastly, her favorite movie is Harry Potter, Deathly Hallows pt. 2 and she loves American Idol on TV. |

Bio: Julie was born and grew up in Oklahoma. When she graduated out of elementary school, her music teacher encouraged her to join the band in junior high. she did so and played the flute ever since. Though she wasn’t serious until her second year as her love for music grew. Julie is now stepping into high school with lots of new goals she hopes to accomplish, including to be known as one of the top flutists in the band. With many years ahead of her, she is looking forward to all of the new experiences she will encounter as part of the high school band.

She also loves playing the flute, because it makes her happy to hear the sound, as long as it is right!

Bio: Brooke has been playing the flute for 4 years. She has had two flute teachers before Tara, but thinks she has found a good fit for her. Marching band is one of her favorite parts of band and greatly looks forward to it each year, even though it’s a lot of hard work. Brooke loves to play very dark music or music with intense emotion. Her favorite part of band is becoming a character within the music and portraying its story.

Bio: Randy is currently in 8th grade and is maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. This is his third year playing the flute and he has enjoyed every minute of it. In addition to playing the flute, Randy enjoys reading, sailing, swimming, chess, and learning. On top of his normal course load, he is taking biology, plane geometry, and spanish 1. Randy wants a degree and job in either electrical or computer engineering. He has a great family that helps to support his multiple interests.

Bio:Jordan was born in Berlin, Germany. Since the time she was little, going to renaissance fairs with her mother, Jordan knew she wanted to play the flute. She got some wooden flutes and messed around on them trying to find fingerings and put it to whatever music she could. When Jordan entered sixth grade, she almost had a change of heart, but her best friend kept her on track and made Jordan play the flute. Today she doesn’t regret the decision at all. Today, Jordan has been playing flute for six years. She will be a senior, and after that, Jordan hopes to get her degree as a music teacher so she can influence young musicians like she was influenced.
